In 1986 the San Francisco drug culture magazine High Frontiers, founded in 1984, renamed itself Reality Hackers to better reflect its drug culture and computer themes. In 1989 Reality Hackers changed its name to MONDO 2000. In this form it influenced the development of cyberpunk culture until its closure in 1998.
