The Pronomos vase, a red-figure volute-krater depicting an entire theatrical chorus and cast along with the celebrated musician Pronomos, in the presence of their patron god, Dionysos, is considered the single most important piece of pictorial evidence for theatre to have survived from ancient Greece. It was discovered in Ruvo di Puglia, Italy in 1836, and is preserved in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli.
