In January 1985 Apple Computer introduced the LaserWriter laser printer, developed in partnership with Hewlett-Packard. It cost $6,995. The Mac's ability to run PageMaker for "desktop publishing" in association with Apple's LaserWriter printer caused sales of the Mac to take off.
