Tim O'Reilly Launches the Global Network Navigator, the First Commercial Website with the First Online Advertising

In May 1993 Tim O’Reilly, of Sebastapol, California, launched the Global Network Navigator. This was the first web portal and the first true commercial website. According to a statement by Tim O'Reilly, it also contained the first online ckickable advertising. O'Reilly sold the Global Network Navigator to America Online in 1995.
