In September 1979 Gordon and Gwen Bell, with the assistance Digital Equipment Corporation, founded the Digital Computer Museum inside Digital Equipment Corporation's office in Marlborough, Massachusetts. In 1984 the Bell's relocated the museum to Museum Wharf in downtown Bosto and changed its name to The Computer Museum. This evolved into the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, beginning with an initial move in 1996 to Moffett Field in Mountain View, California.
