A broadcast by Seattle based space rock group Sky Cries Mary was the first live Internet only broadcast of a band on November 10th, 1994. The webcast was done by Paul Allen's Seattle based digital media start-up Starwave.
Pertinent to this entry, on November 10, 2025 I received an email from Jon R. Luini:
"I was one of the producers of the event through my company IUMA – we had previous just done another livestream and came in to do the production from Starwave’s Seattle offices – so wanted to correct you that although we scrambled to get this done just before the Rolling Stones’ event a week later, the first live concert streamed was actually Deth Specula on 8/23/94 (

"Back in those days, there was a lot of word play to make everything a 'first', so in the press release we said 'one of the first live concerts on the internet' and I imagine someone also said 'hey, this isn’t a public performance, so we can probably say the first Internet-only live concert,' but that actually would be credited to Severe Tire Damage who did a bunch of MBone broadcasts of their rehearsals.
"Anyways, just thought you’d want to know - and maybe add some additional detail in an effort to keep accurate information out there in the world!"
