Thomas Bonsor Crompton Invents the Dry-Felt, Drying Machine for Paper

In 1820 paper and cotton manufacturer Thomas Bonsor Crompton of Farnworth, Lancashire invented a machine for drying and finishing paper, which greatly reduced paper manufacturing costs. Along with that machine, described in Specification No. 4509, Crompton invented a machine for cutting paper in separate sheets.
