The steam engine that Hoe offered in 1867 was essentially of the same design patented by Henry Maudslay in 1807. It was expensive, with the least costly version selling for $2000--more than some of the less expensive presses.

In 1867 R. Hoe & Co. published a cloth-bound fully illustrated priced catalogue of all the printing machines and power presses that they manufactured and sold. The catalogue had a color title page printed in gold ink. The catalogue began by featuring the Hoe Cylinder Type-Revolving Printing Machines, illustrating with pricing details machines with ten cylinders, eight cylinders, six cylinders, four cylinders, and two cylinders, ranging in price from $52,500 down to $9,000. ("Terms: Cash at manufactory in New-York.") There were also less expensive printing machines available, and the wide range of machines and equipment to fill out a complete printing establishment of virtually any size.
