The EDVAC as installed in Building 328 at the Ballistic Research Laboratory. The machine does not appear to have been extensively photogaphed. This is the only photograph of the EDVAC that I have seen.
In 1952 the EDVAC binary stored-program computer, planning for which had started in 1944, with development starting in 1947-48, was finally operational at the Moore School in Philadelphia. By this time it was essentially obsolete. Nevertheless, with various upgrades over time, it was in operation until 1962.
