RCA Begins Manufacturing Color Televisions

On March 24, 1954 RCA began manufacture of its twelve-inch model CT100 color television set, which used phosphor dots deposited on an internal glass plate. Five thousand of these sets were produced and sold at the then very high retail price of $1000.
