Maurice Wilkes Develops the EDSAC 2, the first Large-Scale Computer with a Control Unit Based on Microprogramming

In 1958 Maurice Wilkes's EDSAC 2, the first large-scale computer with a control unit based on microprogramming, became fully operational at the University of Cambridge. The first calculations done on the EDSAC 2 were performed on incomplete machine in 1957.
