Baxter's Cleopatra print.

Baxter's distinctive print of Cleopatra being bitten by a viper could have been finished  before 1835 when the Baxter's patent was granted, since all its stages were used to illustrate Baxter's patent. Ordinarily the print is known from Baxter's The Pictorial Album, which was finished at the end of 1836 and published in 1837. The margins of this page in the book show that the book endured considerable handling from dirty hands. Fortunately they do not seem to have touched the image.
