On October 15, 2010 the Iamus computer cluster developed by Francisco Vico and associates at the Universidad de Málaga, using the Melomics system, composed Opus One. This composition was arguably the first fragment of professional contemporary classical music ever composed by a computer in its own style, rather than emulating the style of existing composers.
"Melomics (derived from the genomics of melodies) is a propietary computational system for the automatic composition of music (with no human intervention), based on bioinspired methods and commercialized by Melomics Media" (Wikipedia article on Melomics, accessed 11-13-2013).
