The Audio Book Company issued the The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin read by American voice actor Michael Rye in 1955. This was the first full-length audio recording of a book. It included excerpts from the autobiography, Poor Richard's Almanack, The Dogood Papers, and other shorter works. The work was published on eight 7 inch discs.
