Samuel Coleman of Boston promoted a partnership with Charles Knight's The Penny Magazine. As far as I have been able to tell, this partnership never occurred.

In 1833 Samuel Colman of Boston launched The People's Magazine in a format emulating Knight's The Penny Magazine. Coleman optimistically announced that his magazine would be printed from stereotype plates and thus could be supplied "in any quantity." By his second year of publication Coleman advertised on the printed wrapper of Vol. 2, No. 26 (March 1835) bound in my copy that he was launching a combined publication with Knight's The Penny Magazine from England. It is doubtful that the partnership took place as I have not been able to find out if The People's Magazine continued to be published after March 1835.
