William Heath's "March of Intellect" Caricatures Scientific and Technological Innovation

Between 1825 and 1829 English caricaturist William Heath issued a series of hand-colored engravings entitled The March of Intellect. These prints caricatured new ideas and technological developments in the Industrial Revolution. The print illustrated here shows a variety of flying machines, steam-powered vehicles, and a bridge across the English Channel.
