In 1989 The Voyager Company issued their first CD-ROM, The Beethoven's Ninth Symphony CD Companion. This brought together a reproduction of the printed score of the symphony with an audio recording and a commentary. Programmed in HyperCard, this was the first interactive electronic publication.
In 1994 Microsoft reissued the disc for the PC as Multimedia Beethoven and sold 33 million dollars worth of copies of this title.
