On November 20, 1985 Microsoft introduced
Windows 1.0 for the PC. Rather than a completely new operating system, Windows 1.0 was a
graphical user interface (GUI) multi-tasking operating environment extension of MS-DOS.
Scans of the 5.25 inch floppy drives on which the "Premiere Edition" of Microsoft Windows was distributed.
