In 1975 Spanish artist
Joan Miro adapted his abstract style to lettering to create a poster for the ballet Lucifer performed by the
Martha Graham Dance Company in New York. The poster was printed in offset lithography by
Aimé Maeght in Paris, in an edition of 75 copies signed, as illustrated here, and 500 copies with the addition "letters" issued as an advertising poster for the performance. The ballet premiered on June 19, 1975 at the Uris Theater in New York as the main feature of The Martha Graham Gala.
