RuneScape, the World's Largest and Most-Updated Free MMORPG, Publishes a Printed Book Documenting its History

In November 2021, RuneScape, characterized in November 2021 as the world's largest (200 million plus accounts) and most-updated free MMORPG (Massively Multi-player Online Role-Playing Game) published Runescape: The First 20 Years. An Illustrated History by Alex Calvin. This full color hardcover printed book, illustrated throughout with spectacular images from the game, was issued in both a trade edition and a deluxe slipcased edition. There was also a digital edition available for the Amazon Kindle ebook reader.

That an entirely digital enterprise published a hardcover deluxe book and regular trade edition of the same book was an excellent example of the persistence of traditional print media in the increasingly digital information environment.
